What is Bitcoin Pizza Day?
May 22nd, 2010 marks a special day for Bitcoin enthusiasts- Bitcoin Pizza Day. On this day, Laszlo Hanyecz, a programmer and miner from the early days of Bitcoin, made history by purchasing pizza using the digital currency.
Hanyecz made a post on a Bitcoin discussion forum offering 10,000 Bitcoins for two large pizzas. Eventually someone accepted his offer and brought over two Papa Johns pizzas.
Back in the day, 10,000 Bitcoin was worth a mere $41. Fast-forward to today and those same 10,000 Bitcoin would be valued at an incredible $690 million! Nevertheless, Hanyecz does not regret spending his cryptocurrency on pizza. By purchasing pizza with Bitcoin, it made crypto tangible for him when only a few outside the crypto network were aware of it.

Use the BitPay Card to pay for your pizza with crypto
The BitPay Card is identical to a regular debit card in its usage at any pizza shop that takes Mastercard. The distinction lies in how it is funded; the BitPay Card is topped up from a cryptocurrency wallet instead of being drawn from a bank account.
