
Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, has generously provided assistance to those affected by the powerful earthquake that occurred last week in Turkey and Syria.
The 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria on February 6th has so far resulted in 33,000 fatalities, making it one of the deadliest in recent decades.
In the past seven days, the Ethereum co-founder has been among those who have donated ETH to help Turkey in times of need. His most recent contribution was on February 12th, when he sent 50 ETH (about $77,000) to Anka Relief, a blockchain security company called PeckShield reported.
Anka expressed her appreciation to the Ethereum co-founder for his generosity and noted that crypto contributions had been coming in since the beginning.

Anka put together a selection of cryptocurrency wallets that can be utilized for making donations. The Web3 relief support organization is also the driving force behind the Ukraine DAO project, which aims to acquire crypto contributions for helping out in the embattled country.
Vitalik recently contributed an additional 99 ETH to aid those affected by the earthquake. On February 11, a sum of almost $150,000 worth of ETH was transmitted from vitalik.eth to Ahbap, a non-profit organization providing assistance in Turkey.

Ahbap has additionally supplied several cryptocurrency addresses to accept donations in different tokens.
So far, the Ahbap wallet has reportedly received crypto contributions in the amount of $4.3 million, with stablecoins being the most popular form of token used. As per Etherscan records, it holds 409 ETH worth approximately $622,000 at present.
The Financial Times of London recently revealed that a great number of crypto contributions had been received from all around the world. Over $10 million in digital currencies had been sent, with Binance alone giving $5 million to help Turkey in its time of need.
Binance declared that they would be distributing $100 worth of BNB to people living in the most adversely affected areas last week.
On February 7th, the day following the destructive earthquake, Cointelegraph publicized how the Web3 society was joining forces to organize crypto contributions for non-governmental organizations and give aid.
Cryptocurrency has previously been employed to give donations for earthquake relief. In 2015, Bitcoin contributions were given to aid groups in the aftermath of the huge earthquake in Nepal.
