Athereum, a “spoon” or compatible version of Ethereum, takes advantage of the Avalanche consensus protocol and the Ethereum ecosystem. What is Avalanche Platform?
The Avalanche network is a powerful, large-scale, modifiable and segmentable platform. It enables developers to form their own subnetworks that can issue, apply and exchange any digital asset. Athereum is the primary subnetwork based on the Avalanche platform that integrates an existing virtual asset. Athereum has all the functions integrated into its EVM. As opposed to ETH token, the native token used in Athereum platform is ATH.
What is a friendly fork?
This is not a controversial split. We will be transferring the Ethereum status at a specified block height. All existing Ethereum owners will have the same amount of ATH as the ETH they already own in their wallets. This fork is not intended to replace Ethereum, but to offer an alternative platform with higher performance and quicker transaction completion time. The purpose of this fork is to encourage more research and development into decentralized applications as well as improvements for the EVM itself.
What is Avalanche Consensus?
Avalanche is a novel type of consensus mechanism that goes beyond Nakamoto’s longest-chain consensus. It enables transactions to be validated in seconds, and it can accommodate thousands of nodes participating in the consensus process with no need for subcommittees or hindrance to speed. In other words, we have eliminated the trilemma without ever accepting its validity in the first place.
