Polygon companies have partnered with Game7, a Web3 Gaming DAO with a community-controlled treasury, to take part in its $100 million grants scheme that targets the development of more sustainable and open-source games.
Game7 Grants Program is a platform-independent initiative that will allocate $100 million over the next 5 years to teams dealing with game building tools, smart contracts, central infrastructure and community tools. Polygon companies’ experienced dev team will offer additional technical and developmental aid to projects running on the Polygon network while Game7 will be responsible for assessments and financing.
“In the coming years, Web3 gaming will be a major adoption vector for blockchain technology, which is the core mission for Polygon,” said Urvit Goel, VP of Global Games and Platform Business Development at Polygon. “These grants will act like a catalyst for creation of the important infrastructure, exploration of new community models and unique play mechanics that will pave the way for the next billion gamers coming to Web3.”
All are invited to apply for a grant, regardless of whether they’re an individual builder, DAO or traditional company. The amount of the grant will be determined by the size, development stage and ambition of the project. Payments will be made in USDC and are based on milestone achievements. You can start your application for a Game7 grant right now! These resources are allocated to projects that use open-source technologies, events, education, research and diversity. Grant recipients will also benefit from being part of an active gaming community with tech assistance, mentoring and early access to Game7 launches. This grants program builds upon the relationship between Game7 and Polygon companies that has been established over time.
This involves talking to and presenting information about game developers for Game7’s yearly Game Developer Report, as well as taking part in Gam3r Forum, an annual gathering that addresses the most significant problems in Web3 gaming.
“’By working closely with our ecosystem partners, we aim not only to better understand the dynamic challenges of the blockchain gaming space today, but to also offer best-in-class support to our community as they innovate using open-source technology,” said Game7 core contributor George Isichos.
The Polygon POS system has become popular due to its economical fees, fast transaction times and the fact that it is compatible with Ethereum Virtual Machine. This has led to thousands of decentralized apps joining the Polygon network. Additionally, some of the major blockchain gaming developers and publishers such as Ubisoft, Atari, Animoca, Decentraland, Somnium Space and The Sandbox have also joined this ecosystem.
