Interchain Developer Academy Application is Open for Developers

Are you a developer who is enthusiastic about autonomous, self-managed chains? Do you wish to construct and deploy blockchains and dApps quickly and easily?

The Interchain Developer Academy offers an online training program that is free of charge and lasts seven weeks. This program is tailored for developers that have three or more years of experience with object-oriented languages. You will be able to enhance your knowledge of the Interchain Stack and become proficient in using the Cosmos SDK, CosmJS, as well as IBC; which makes this the perfect way to kickstart or continue your blockchain career. No prior experience with blockchain or Cosmos is necessary for application – only enthusiasm to learn!

“I found the Academy to be very thorough, exhaustive and helpful. I feel confident I now have the tools and network to start building my own Cosmos-based app chain.”

– Max Heilman

Applications are open

The third session of the Academy is starting on December 1st and applications must be in by November 24th. For further details and essential dates, please see the Academy website.

“The most valuable thing about the Academy is by far the amount of support that you get from both the instructors AND the community. I now have a much better understanding of CosmosSDK and what it takes to develop an application-specific blockchain. If you’re interested in becoming a Cosmos SDK developer, joining the Academy is a no-brainer.”

– Basel Hashish

Self-paced with instruction and support from blockchain experts

You’ll have access to 70 hours of thorough material that you can study in your own time, backed by a board of well-known blockchain professionals from our training partner B9Lab. You’ll gain insight into the fundamental aspects of blockchain technology and apply them through coding activities, all within the Interchain framework – an ever-growing ecosystem of interconnected applications and services using IBC (the Inter-Blockchain Communication protocol).

“It was excellent, everyone was super helpful and prompt with their responses.”

– Abhishek Kaushik

The Interchain Foundation fully finances the Academy, so you can receive the training at no cost. Upon passing the last exam, you will be granted certification and provided immediate access to tasks and career opportunities in the Ecosystem. Additionally, you will have a strong support system of your peers who have also graduated from the Academy as well as other developers of the Ecosystem to help guide you through exploring Interchain!

Why learn the Interchain Stack?

The Interchain is composed of independent, interconnected blockchains that are tailored to specific applications. These blockchains are constructed using the user-friendly, modular components from the Cosmos SDK and connected through IBC, an innovative Inter-Blockchain Communication Protocol.

The Interchain Stack allows developers to construct self-governed, blockchain-based applications that are capable of interfacing with both customary software and other blockchains. It is supplemented by a regularly updated product stack and a big, helpful community.

This has significant consequences for blockchain technology, thus creating an increasing need for developers in the Interchain realm. Presently, there are over 50 appchains developed with the Interchain Stack that are connected with each other and have hundreds of dApps and services built on them.

You’ll be in good company

To date, 350 developers have gone through the Academy and the third one is set to begin on December 1st.

An overwhelming 96% of those who have participated said they would recommend the Interchain Developer Academy to someone else, and the feedback for its practical training is positive at 90%.

“Great! Interesting and engaging, good level and density of new information each week, and well presented!”

– Daniel Mayer

The next cohort is limited to 200 spots and the deadline to take the screening test is November 24th, so be sure to reserve your place promptly.

What you’ll learn in the Academy

You will learn the basic concepts of blockchain technology, get an extensive understanding of the Interchain Stack and its environment, compare it to other platforms, as well as learn how to use ATOM, wallets, and staking.

After completing the Academy training, you’ll have a solid understanding of:

  • Blockchain technology and cryptography
  • Developing with the Cosmos SDK & Ignite CLI
  • Inter-Blockchain Communication Protocol
  • Building front- and backends with CosmJS
  • Integrating wallets such as Keplr
  • Relaying in the Interchain

Is the Academy right for you?

If you’re enthusiastic about blockchain technology and eager to advance (or begin) your blockchain career, or even construct your own initiative with Interchain, then you should consider applying to the Interchain Developer Academy.

It is not necessary to have any prior knowledge of coding blockchain in order to apply, though applicants must possess a minimum of three years programming experience and be able to devote 10 hours per week for the duration of the program.

The application process and key dates

Applications are available until November 24th and will commence with an assessment to evaluate your understanding of software development topics and problem-solving aptitude. There won’t be any blockchain queries in this exam – you’ll get to know all about that in the Academy.

You will discover if you have passed the screening test and been accepted into the program by November 28th. The Academy instruction begins on December 1st, 2022 and concludes on March 16th, including a testing period plus a two week vacation time.
