B-Side Games, a German independent game studio, has incorporated cutting-edge blockchain technology into their gaming products. In 2017, Chainmonsters began as a 2D web-based pixel art prototype on the Ethereum platform. Founded by Maximilian Weber and Lysander Haupt – both of whom have over ten years of experience in the gaming sector – Chainmonsters has achieved remarkable success. Through Kickstarter contributions and its dedicated fanbase, the game has managed to raise $1.55 million in 6 years. Currently boasting 170,000 pre-registered players, Chainmonsters is projected to continue growing as more gamers explore its ever-expanding universe.
On March 6, 2023, Chainmonsters is scheduled to be made available on the Epic Games Store as an Early Access launch, making it one of the first blockchain games to be featured on the platform. This includes a variety of game components like a crafting system and the option to capture Chainmons in-game and have them minted as NFTs on ImmutableX.
