Pacman, the creator of the renowned NFT trading platform Blur, made his identity public via Twitter on February 22.
Pacman declared that he left high school early, became part of the acclaimed startup accelerator Y Combinator at seventeen years old, and then studied mathematics and computer science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was once given the Thiel grant established by billionaire Peter Thiel, and went on to create a company named Namebase which he later sold to Namecheap.
Pacman said that when he created Blur in 401 days, he considered whether to use real identity or anonymity, and discussed this issue with Anish Agnihotri of Polychain Capital. In the end, Anish persuaded Pacman to remain anonymous initially and then reveal himself afterwards, rather than the other way around, and thus Pacman chose to stay anonymous.
Pacman mentioned that he likes the idea of working anonymously, yet in order to establish a positive rapport with others, he isn’t afraid to communicate using his real name during private conversations, which Franklin, an influential figure in the NFT world, can prove.
Despite releasing his CV, Pacman did not reveal the actual identity of the person.
Pacman stated that the moniker ‘Pacman’ is synonymous with his personal identity. The name is easier to say than his actual name, which serves as a hint. So he will persist in using Pacman and an avatar to join video meetings with others.
Despite Pacman not providing his real name, the details he gave were sufficient for us to uncover additional details.
